Here is an arrangement of Irene Higginbotham’s hauntingly beautiful ballad, Good Morning Heartache. This arrangement was adapted from a small group recording by Vincent Herring, and was premiered by Vincent Herring with the University of North Texas One O’Clock Lab Band
Arrangement for large jazz ensemble, with vocal or instrumental solo.
Instrumentation:
- Vocal Solo (Alternate parts for Eb, Bb, and C Bass Clef instruments provided)
- 4 Bb Clarinets (substitute parts for 2 alto saxophones and 2 tenor saxophones provided)
- 1 Bb Bass Clarinet (substitute part for baritone saxophone provided)
- Alternate parts provided for 2 alto saxophones, 2 tenor saxophones, 1 baritone saxophone
- 5 Flugelhorns (1 part is optional. All parts could be played on trumpet)
- 3 Tenor Trombones
- 2 Bass Trombones (1 part is optional)
- Guitar
- Piano
- Bass
- Drum Set
