From Snarky Puppy’s 2012 album Ground Up, here is “Quarter Master” arranged for large jazz ensemble
This arrangement was premiered at The Midwest Clinic on December 19, 2024 by the Mount Si High School Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Bill Leather
Instrumentation:
- 8 brass (4 trumpet, 3 tenor trombone, 1 bass trombone)
- 5 saxophones (Alto, Alto, Tenor, Tenor, Baritone)
- Rhythm section (Guitar, Piano, Electric bass, Drum set)
- Optional parts (5th trumpet, Sousaphone. Can have a 2nd pianist play Hammond Organ, have two guitarists play like Snarky Puppy does, etc)
Instrument Ranges:
- Trumpet 1 to concert D6
- Trombone 1 to A4
