Description

Off the 1962 album “Takin’ Off,” here is a unique twist on Herbie Hancock’s “Driftin’.” The melody is reharmonized, but the saxophone soli and solo section retain the original chord changes.

Instrumentation:

  • 8 brass (4 trumpet, 3 tenor trombone, 1 bass trombone)
  • 5 saxophones (2 alto, 2 tenor, 1 baritone)
  • Rhythm section (guitar, piano, bass, drum set)

Brass Ranges:
